From Discovery to Delivery.

Translating WA Medical Research into Patient Impact
It is recognised that our Western Australian medical research organisations need to take their leading-edge research to patients and, where appropriate, to generate a return that enables them to fund the next generation of researchers.
Western Australian medical research has delivered successful outcomes including underpinning the research and Western Australian based management teams instrumental in bringing 7 drugs from Australian research laboratories to market (out of the total of only 16 with origins in Australian academic research organisations that have been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration).
These drugs have enabled treatments for patients with Duchene Muscular Dystrophy, chronic pain and cardiovascular disease. In addition, Western Australian medical research has been behind multiple medical devices and medical-software solutions that have successfully translated into approved products. These include an artificial cornea, a MRI system that can diagnose iron overload in the liver and the use of artificial intelligence to better diagnose coronary disease.

Support Our Mission
As a registered charity, any returns made by the Health Translation Group through our translation and investment activities will be directed back towards medical research.
The outcomes will ensure medical discoveries find their way to patients, inventing researchers participate in any returns, and the medical research community can realise meaningful returns to support ongoing, and expanded, levels of operation and output.

Development of medical research into viable real-world products
HTG is working with Western Australian medical researchers to facilitate the flow of discoveries from the research setting to approved real world products (or an improved way of doing things) and help ensure new medical discoveries become part of the clinical practice of general practitioners, medical specialists and hospitals for the benefit of patients.
HTG’s work with its members has identified an emerging pipeline of opportunity and realisation of the full potential health outcomes of these, and discoveries yet to emerge, will not be possible without translating medical research and converting them into viable approved products to attract government grants and/or investments.
Our first spin out from the HTG model is Atherid Therapeutics Pty Ltd

1. Through Études, we aspire to redefine architectural boundaries and usher in a new era of design excellence that leaves an indelible mark on the built environment.
HTG brings together experience and expertise as part of a unique collaboration delivering a bespoke solution to investing into health and research that is required to help ensure research is ongoing and its output is brought into reality to directly contribute to the prevention or the control of diseases in human beings. It delivers a ‘virtuous circle’ – the translation of medical research leads to outcomes which directly advance the management and control of diseases, success in this way in turn generates more interest and commitment to research, which in turn results in more cures and treatments for disease – and so it goes.
